Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

As Business Manager you'll provide high quality programme and business management support to Ofgem's Networks division, which delivers a range of high profile and complex regulatory programmes and delivers investment regimes designed to encourage competition in electricity networks. You'll lead on core business management activities including programme planning and forecasting, delivery tracking, budgeting, risks and issue management, personal performance and developing management information. You'll have a key part to play in a cultural change programme within the division to create a more entrepreneurial approach, and support continuous improvement.

This role will suit someone who can demonstrate a track record in bringing innovative thinking to improvement and problem solving, ideally as part of a cultural change programme. Strong communication skills are a must-have, along with the ability to foster strong working relationships with a range of colleagues. You should be able to motivate and bring others with you, including direct management of your team, but also bring your influence to bear through matrix management. You should have a good appreciation of how to bring complex financial and performance data to life, to inform improvement activity, and understand how to manage sensitive information. You'll also need highly developed organisational skills and the intellectual capacity to contribute to strategic planning and shape a vision that others can connect to.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days' annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Subsidised gym and restaurant
  • Interest free season ticket loan.
