Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit an Indirect Tax Manager for an instantly recognisable financial services organisation in Manchester. Due to an internal promotion we are looking for an ambitious first or second time mover from practice or someone coming from a similar indirect tax background.

You will join the specialist team and provide tax advice to a variety of stakeholders across the business. You'll be dealing with colleagues and leaders at all levels giving you a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact.

Within defined risk and regulatory requirements, you will be tasked to minimise the business indirect tax exposures and manage the indirect tax risks, to fulfil all statutory compliance obligations, and to provide a high quality indirect tax advisory service to the business. To control and manage the indirect tax affairs of the business, in particular:

* Manage the VAT compliance processes including preparing the VAT Returns
* Provide technical VAT & IPT advice that is both practical and accessible to non-experts
* Identify VAT risks and opportunities and work in conjunction with other business areas to minimise the risks and take advantage of the opportunities
* Identify and implement process improvements
* Build strong relationships across the business.

The person

The successful applicant will be a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CTA), a qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a first rate academic record making your first/second move from practice or coming from a similar role within commerce and industry.

You will have sound technical knowledge and experience of indirect tax including partial exemption (experience in financial services would be an advantage) coupled with the ability to analyse complex business situations in order to provide the best practical indirect tax advice.

Experience of negotiating with and influencing HMRC and the ability to represent the business externally and act as a company ambassador are desirable.

You will be flexible and adaptable, understand the overall goals of the team and actively seek to help achieve them. Ambitious, enthusiastic and looking to progress within a reputable and fast moving organisation.

This role requires an ambitious proactive individual who has excellent technical tax knowledge with strong interpersonal, communication, numerical and analytical skills.

You will have the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external finance/non finance stakeholders. You will be highly IT literate, especially on Excel and have accuracy and attention to detail.

If you consider yourself to be a committed, career driven professional who can demonstrate the above experience and who would welcome the stimulus of this finance post then we would be pleased to hear from you.
