This is an exciting time to join the Carnegie School of Education at Leeds Beckett University. As well as becoming one of the best performing providers of teacher education in the country, we've developed a reputation for innovation in our teaching, curriculum and partnership work. We've also created a strategy to embed research into everything we do but not just any research - we want to develop research that improves the life chances of children and young people, creating real impact in regional, national and international contexts. We're also committed to embedding our practice into our extensive partnership, funding collaborative practitioner research in schools, evaluating school improvement initiatives and private sector corporate and social responsibility projects and supporting community groups and social enterprises to build capacity. As a result of growing student numbers, we're seeking to appoint an inspirational and creative Programme Director for Research Degrees. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of our research degrees - the Doctorate in Education (EdD), the PhD and our unique MRes Professional Practice - from recruitment to successful completion, working closely with colleagues in the School of Education and the central Graduate School. You will have a first degree and a doctorate and be able to demonstrate a record of successful supervision and teaching in the broad areas of childhood and/or education. You should also bring a track record of publications commensurate with a senior position and experience of working with external partners on collaborative, impactful projects. A Readership title may be available for a successful candidate with the appropriate profile and experience to meet our University criteria.
We welcome applications from all individuals and particularly from black and minority ethnic candidates as members of these groups are currently under-represented at this level of post. Potential candidates are encouraged to make informal contact with the Dean of School, Professor Damien Page ( or ).
Working here means you'll also have access to a wide range of benefits including our generous pension schemes, excellent holiday entitlements, flexible working, reduced study fees, subsidised fitness facilities and a lot more. Closing date: 30 October 2017 (Midnight)
