The Company

A leading and rapidly expanding group who have benefitted from a string of successive achievements and impressive accolades, including 42 award wins in the last three years alone. Based out of their Haywards Heath office, they are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and positive individual to join their busy and vibrant payroll team.

The Role

The post holder will be working for the Group Payroll Team within Group Finance. They will be responsible for providing an accurate and customer focused payroll service, working within the payroll services team and reporting into the Group Payroll Manager.

The Company are unique it that is has numerous PAYE references operating under the main 24th payroll. It then has a number of PAYE references operating under its 31st payroll. It also has smaller payrolls operating on a stand-alone basis, a total of 6 payrolls all either being processed on 25th or 31st of the month. There is a high volume of variable data that must be processed accurately and on time to meet strict deadlines in readiness for sign off by relevant Executives.


??Liaise with the HR Assistants to ensure all basic data including new starters, leavers and contractual changes are processed in line with payroll cut off dates
??Enter all data on the HR/payroll system correctly, to deadline
??Check fellow team members work as appropriate each month
??Compile, prepare and complete uploads of monthly allowances, timesheets and deductions
??To establish and maintain good communications with all areas of the business and its employees ensuring an excellent service is provided at all times.
??Liaise with Executives and staff with delegated authorities to ensure all monthly payments are signed off correctly and in line with the Group's Financial procedures
??To fully investigate ALL queries on behalf of employees and respond within service levels and react to incident resolution
??To ensure effective communications with HMRC regarding tax issues and queries with student loans, tax codes and tax queries. Wherever possible promoting the HRMC website for employee use of their self-service portal
??To maintain an up to date and good practical working knowledge of Payroll legislation, changes and enhancements
??To supervise the email box for both Payroll and Employee self service

Skills and Experience:

??Minimum of 3 years working within a payroll team/environment
??Experience of processing multiple payrolls in a large diverse organisation or for multiple clients as part of a payroll bureau service
??Solid Payroll experience and knowledge including SMP, SAP, SPP
??Excellent level of up to date payroll legislation, including HMRC requirements
??Ceridian/SD Worx experience and working knowledge (preferably Ceridian Evolution) - desirable but not essential
??(Ideally) experience of bringing in new employees and payrolls through mergers and acquisitions

What's on offer?

A competitive basic salary of between GBP25,000 - GBP29,000 coupled with an excellent benefits package. A higher salary may be negotiable for candidates with the exact requirements
