My client is recruiting a Media Officer/Editor to join their large communications team based in Liverpool City Centre. Applicants must be available to start work immediately and commit to a rolling interim contract.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage and enhance the media profile of the company whilst protecting its reputation and image at all times. The post-holder must react quickly and manage potentially damaging issues, producing media/public relations strategies for all aspects of the company's services and procedures. This often includes: negotiating with the media and mitigating risks to the reputation, negotiating and consulting with internal and external stakeholders to protect and manage risks to the reputation, and analysing complex and sensitive issues to formulate a media response.
Proactively identify newsworthy items to promote the company at a regional and national level. Then produce strategies, which ensure their effective communication to the public via the media and websites. This will also include scanning national and regional issues to ensure the company is effectively positioned on emerging issues.
Maintain a professional working relationship with all members of the media, proactively creating opportunities for effective liaison between Senior Managers and Media Representatives
Assess national and local media film production requests (mainly documentaries) and make recommendations on participation. In participation, the post holder will plan, supervise and organise the filming schedule ensuring accuracy, legal compliance and risk mitigation at all times.
Manage the media during serious/critical incidents and act as advisor. This includes: managing the flow of factual, timely information to all media, attending pivot meetings on behalf of the Media Office and advise managers on media coverage, media strategy and broader communication plans/consequences and, providing 24-hours a day on-call service.
Develop and implement contingency plans in response to major incidents or large-scale events. This will include acting as lead media officers in a multi-agency situation, coordinating the media strategy and response on behalf of partners.
Act as a spokesperson on behalf of the client or take responsibility for the provision of a suitable spokesperson. This will involve the development of briefing papers and a strategy in order to position the spokesperson
Project manage priorities through media campaigns working collaboratively with the Corporate Communications Team to ensure all work is integrated and maximising all key communication channels to positively influence the public perception. This will include the development of media strategies, links into campaigns, media briefing opportunities and evaluating the effectiveness of media coverage.

Journalism experience, media office and /or public relations experience and a relevant degree or other higher-level professional qualification
Must have extensive experience working in a media/communications/editorial role
Proven ability in protecting an organisation's reputation and enhancing its image.
Knowledge of media law to ensure an efficient service is provided - desirable
Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and presentation skills in order to effectively represent the organisation to the media
Must be able to work effectively in an environment where confidentiality is paramount and discretion essential
Computer literate with a wide knowledge of different packages.
Must understand and know how to utilise digital media to enhance online presence, engagement and opportunity to communicate key messages through use of multi-media.
Hourly rate is GBP18.20ph, flexible working hours, 36.5 hours per week.
