Our client is an international practice of Chartered Accountants with its head office in the United Kingdom. They specialise in personal, corporate taxation and financial advice to international groups and private individuals. They were established over 80 years ago and ranks amongst the top thirty practices in the UK.

They have two offices in the UK, London and Leatherhead, Surrey. A total of 15 Partners and 170 personnel are employed in the two offices.
In addition to the UK offices, they have ten overseas offices employing in excess of 400 staff which have developed from the substantial amount of international work we are involved in.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Business Services Group (a division of Corporate Services) provides a comprehensive range of accounting and financial services to clients. These services include management and financial reporting and extend to a full outsourcing of the accountancy function for a number of clients.
The total staff of the department is approximately 30. The department is located in Leatherhead.

THE POSITION
Our client has a position for a Payroll Supervisor to work in the Business Services Group. The role is the operation of the department's payroll bureau involving weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly and annual payrolls for a diverse range of clients. Many of our clients have fully outsourced their payroll operations to us and the role involves all aspects of providing them with a first-class service. The day to day work will involve a wide range of payroll skills including:
Preparing client payrolls on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis
Incorporating payroll changes that have been notified by agreed cut-off dates
Calculation of SSP, SMP, etc where applicable
Providing management information using computer printouts
Providing security payslips for each employee
Utilising the BACS system for payment of net salaries and PAYE/NIC
Advising clients of the necessary payments to be made to employees and HM Revenue & Customs
Completing all RTI submissions to HM Revenue & Customs
Extensive communication with clients, mainly by telephone and email
Correspondence with HM Revenue & Customs on all matters affecting the payroll
Assisting clients with payroll support

The client base that the department deals with is extensive, ranging from high net worth individuals to multinational groups including:
Subsidiaries of quoted overseas corporations
Art galleries and antique dealers
Technology & e-commerce companies
Sports personalities/motor racing
PR and Marketing
Property development and investment
In an environment where clients demand a first class and timely service, the Business Services Group has developed strong IT skills and the use of IT systems is an essential part of the role. The group uses Star Payroll Professional as its payroll system, together with Excel and other widely used software packages. The firm has a policy of continual investment in technology to improve efficiency and its service to clients.

THE CANDIDATE
The main criteria for any candidate applying for this position is a combination of strong payroll skills and sound knowledge of employment issues. They will be able to demonstrate that they have worked in an environment where it is necessary to deliver accurate information on a timely basis.
The candidate should possess:
Extensive experience in payroll preparation
Experience of dealing with PAYE issues and HM Revenue & Customs correspondence
Good communication and inter-personal skills
Team player
Ability to work under pressure and in a deadline environment
Good IT skills and receptive to technology changes

The position is based at our Leatherhead offices which are modern and open plan. The working day is 9.00 am to 5.30 pm or 8.30 am to 5.00 pm with one hour for lunch
