The Role

York St John University is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic city of York and there's never been a more exciting time to join us. After investing over GBP110 million in our campus and facilities, establishing nine new schools and developing a suite of attractive, contemporary courses, we've seen the biggest rise across all English universities in UCAS acceptances this year.

Central to our ambition is commitment to academic excellence. Over a third of our research is already considered world leading or internationally excellent. Our ambition is to increase our capacity to deliver world leading research, particularly research that has a significant real world impact.

We've also created the conditions for quality teaching. We're third in the UK for the proportion of our academics with formal teaching qualifications, we're a consistent Stonewall Top 100 employer and we hold the Social Enterprise Gold Mark for Responsible Business Practice.

As part of our expansion we are recruiting for a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Sport and Exercise Science. The successful candidate will work within the School of Sport and support the delivery of teaching and learning related activities across a suite of undergraduate programmes. This includes teaching and providing tutorial support, as well any necessary preparation, assessment and marking of assessment as required by the School. A background in sport and exercise science is considered essential, as is an interest and background in sport and exercise psychology. The role is designed to allow the opportunity to study for a PhD while gaining experience as a teaching assistant. The PhD will be in the area of sport and exercise psychology. Any appointment will be conditional upon acceptance to a PhD programme at York St John University. An average of 6 hours per week will be dedicated to teaching and related duties.
