The Role
Parliament's Education Service aims to inform, engage and empower young people in the work of Parliament, politics and democracy. It provides resources and support for pupils and teachers to increase their knowledge and understanding of the role, work and history of Parliament, and supports MPs and Peers in their work with young people. It also manages Parliament's Central Tours Office, which administers Member-sponsored tours of the Palace of Westminster (for schools and other members of the public).

The Education Visits team delivers on-site learning for school visitors during term time through its tour, workshop and special events programme. This programme facilitates understanding about the work of Parliament through the aims that Parliament is evolving, relevant and yours. With the opening of a new Education Centre in July 2015, we are working towards increasing this provision to 100,000 pupils and accompanying adults.

The post-holder's responsibility will be to deliver high quality and engaging tours of the Palace of Westminster across the formal learning age range for all UK schools, supporting subjects such as Citizenship, History and Government and Politics (or their equivalent).

The post-holder will also support the operations of the new Education Centre and the work of the Education Service as a whole, including bookings administration.
