Rullion are seeking a highly professinal Head of Data on a permanent basis situated in Cheshire

The role holder will manage a team of analysts to create the data and insights which support the information business and the marketing teams. This will leverage the new technology platforms in Hadoop, MongoDB as well as new open source data technologies as they prove valuable in the market place. The role holder will need to be strategically aware of these technologies and be able to devise a strategy which enable the data to be held and managed efficiently and within tight governance and control. They will be technically skilled as well as understand the types of models and data frameworks that can support the business strategies around our data assets. This will require excellent communication skills, functional awareness and a strong analytical capability.

Key Accountabilities
*The role holder will work closely with the other teams and to implement and deliver solutions which maximise all of the technologies available. The role holder must also have a thorough understanding of data both logical and physical and the platforms that support it
*The role holder will be responsible for assessing the business area's data needs and managing the delivery of models / reports / acquisition.
*The role holder will work with designated stakeholders to produce an aggregated demand portfolio that considers new demand based on alignment to key Business strategies. The role holder will provide creative solutions to address all data requirements, which draw on existing technologies and investigating new alternatives. The role holder must evaluate demand based on value to the business i.e. cost savings or business generation. The role holder will be expected to leverage wider initiatives in IIT.
*The role holder will support the design, build, test and delivery of key data solutions to stakeholders working closely with the data partners to ensure that the solution built is fit for purpose. The role holder needs to ensure that detailed analysis of requirements are conducted and signed off by the business to ensure effectiveness, relevance and accuracy.
*The role holder will be responsible for building a performance management culture through implementation of robust budgets, metrics and corporate targets
*The role holder will lead and develop both the technical team and functional team to help achieve all the business and team objectives in the most effective manner.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership
*The role holder will manage a portfolio of stakeholders, ensuring that they have the necessary data to move their business forward. This will require excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to balance the needs of multiple senior stakeholders through regular communication whilst ensuring these are prioritized based on value and alignment to the Business objectives

*The role holder will support the analysis, design, build, test and delivery of data solutions as required.

*The role holder must also possess a strong understanding of data conceptual designs & proven ability to turn such designs into performant data models optimised for end user self-service.

*Manage/ escalate risks and issues through to resolution. Implement solutions to prevent repetition of known issues/ risks and share knowledge of lessons learned.

*Ensure that full testing is undertaken to ensure successful deployment/ implementation of all developments or new applications.

*The role holder must have technical skills relating to the use of data such as logical modelling, SQL, Scala, BI reporting, Hadoop and Teradata

Person Specification

The ideal candidate must be flexible and professional under pressure, have strong interpersonal skills, drive and focus to succeed in a challenging environment. The ability to grasp data, product and business concepts quickly is critical. The right candidate will require a proactive, yet pragmatic approach to solving data issues, focusing on areas of value add/significance to the business. The ideal candidate will contribute positively to the organisational culture of excellence and have the ability to take accountability and operate under their own initiative in a professional and positive manner. The role holder must contribute to knowledge shares across the teams

The ideal candidate will have the following technical exposure
*A deep expertise in at least one of the following data platforms
*Awareness of analytical tools and systems including Qlikview, SAS, Actuate, Cognos
*A good understanding of propensity models and some understanding of recommendation engines supporting next best offer and next best action.
*Awareness of marketing technologies such as DMP, Ad server, Attribution
