Salary: GBP25,897 - GBP28,419 pro rata

Closing Date: 9am on 16th October 2017
Interview date: 1st November 2017

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be involved in the development and delivery of a specialist team supporting families experiencing difficulties with the parent-infant relationship. The Babies and Bonding project will work in partnership with Better Start Bradford and Bradford District Care Foundation Trust to engage communities and families, promoting messages and understanding around the importance of the parent-infant relationship, how to support and nurture this relationship and to intervene when difficulties are identified.

The Babies and Bonding Project will be funded for three years and will be delivered to families within the Better Start Bradford area. The project will be supported by robust monitoring of outcomes and service evaluation.

This strand of work will complement the existing Perinatal Support Service, which is aimed at pregnant women who have, or are at risk of developing, mild to moderate mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. The project provides support to parents through a dedicated trained volunteer 'befriender' who will offer emotional support and support to access other services in the community. The service also offers group work and therapeutic groups to help build attachment between parent and baby. It helps women through their pregnancy and up until their baby's first birthday, and can work with their partners too. It supports families according to their needs and situation, through listening and emotional support and linking in with other specialist services and Children Centres.

As Babies and Bonding Coordinator for the PNSS you will lead around infant mental health for the service and you will work closely with the clinical 'Babies and Bonding' team to ensure that the team of staff and volunteers in their Perinatal Support Service have received the appropriate trainings. You will work to consult with the local community around messaging methodology that is culturally competent for the audience in order to start disseminating messages around infant mental health, attachment and attunement in a way that can be understood and can affect systemic change. You will drive forwards the 'Babies and Bonding' plan, embedding it into the existing PNSS systems and processes.

About You:

Preferably you will have a qualification in Early Years, Nursing, social care NVQ 3 or equivalent or have family support or health related work experience. It is desirable that you have some specialist knowledge around infant mental health and child development. It is crucial that you have an understanding of the impact of marginalization and deprivation and the importance of cultural competence in relation to service delivery.

You may have experience of the following: Babies and Bonding Coordinator, Support Coordinator, Service Coordinator, Project Management, Care Coordinator, Project Coordinator, Support Worker, Case Worker, Social Worker, Charity, Charities, Third Sector, NFP, Not for Profit, etc.
