Finance Business Partner - York - Permanent Purpose of the Job: * Provide full financial partnering and challenge to Programme and team leaders across the agency to ensure delivery of income and cost objectives. * The production and continuous improvement of high quality financial and management information to meet internal and external customer demand. * Provide accurate advice, support and challenge to Fera colleagues.Role Accountabilities: * To have good knowledge of the business area that is supported, and translate this into an understanding of the financial business partnering support required. * Ensure the accuracy of financial and non-financial information and that processes and deadlines are adhered to. * Monitor report and advise on the adequacy and effectiveness of the financial control environment as and when required.About Capita | FERACapita entered a Joint Venture with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), and FERA provides scientific services to government and commercial customers, such as food retailers and manufacturers of crop protection products, in the UK and overseas Key Responsibilities * Partner with profit and cost centre leaders to ensure they develop and maintain a strategic, commercial focus and achieve their financial objectives. * Deliver value-adding, high quality financial advice, support and challenge in business planning and decision making, budget and forecasting processes. * Support scientists and business development managers in their dealings with external customers to maximise the return on opportunities. * Promptly identify areas of poor financial performance and partner with profit and cost centre leaders to implement remedial measures. * Work closely with Management Information to provide financial and non-financial information to all users within and outside Fera, following a "right first time / do once, use often" approach to information provision. * Drive robust costing and pricing analysis, business cases and investment appraisals to ensure financial performance is maximised. * Supervise, coach and mentor less experienced members of the team. * Support robust, reliable and continuously improving corporate management and reporting systems and processes in Fera that deliver accurate and on-time reports and submissions as required. * Drive continuous improvement within the team and wider Fera. * Help to ensure that decisions within the supported programmes are made for the benefit of the wider agency. * Lead and complete ad-hoc projects to drive improvements in business processes and improve the performance of the business. * Support the key business deliverables, initiatives, plans and business proposals within Fera as required. * Ensure the business plan, budget and forecast deliverables meet the specified time and quality standards. * Providing appropriate training and guidance to operational managers, including via formal training courses as required.Key Skills and Experience * Qualified Accountant, CIMA, ACCA, ACA * Excellent experience of management accounting or finance business partnering. * Strong commercial experience in customer focussed environment. * Experience of delivering change management in a finance environment. * Financial systems experience including Excel and SAP * Experience of data extraction, manipulation, analysis and reporting. * Proven accuracy, attention to detail and ability to consistently meet challenging deadlines and objectives. * Experience of performance management and continuous improvement, and how to apply it within a process driven environment. * Ability to prioritise, problem solve and work effectively under pressure. * An ability to challenge existing working practices effectively. * Customer focused with a good understanding of customer needs and expectations. * Excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal. * Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to make and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders (of all levels of seniority and financial understanding) and team members to deliver resultWhat we hope you will do nextHelp us find out more about you by completing our short application process - click apply now.Capita operates as an equal opportunities employer and we welcome all applications regardless of gender, marital status, sexual orientation, pregnancy, race, colour, ethnic origin, nationality, religion or beliefs, disability, age, political opinions or trade union membership.Listen | Create | Deliver Follow Capita on Capita on Resourcing welcome applications from all suitably qualified people regardless of gender, race, disability, age or sexual orientation.Capita Resourcing is a trading name of Capita Resourcing Ltd.
