A leading medical communications agency has an opportunity for an Account Director / Senior Account Director to join their team and be based in their Cheshire offices.

The role will involve providing proactive commercial direction of a large oncology programme to ensure that the client's marketing aims and objectives are met. This is a leadership role, which involves developing long-term, effective client business relationships at the brand manager/director level to deliver sustained organic growth. This role would suit either an established Account Director looking for their next career move.

Client Management:

Commercial strategic direction of a large oncology programme
Along with more senior colleagues, responsible for development of rolling annual account strategy and plan
Leader and driver of communications strategy & planning meetings for account
Understand and challenge client product positioning and marketing strategy
Understand product science and input into scientific content
Accountability for ensuring delivery to agreed standards on the account and adherence to external standards/guidelines inc. client SOPs/GPP

Team Management:

Line management, including the training, development and mentoring of Account Managers, Account Executive, and Project Assistants
Responsibility for forecasting, planning and management of account resources
Ensures account team understands and meet KPIs
Sharing ideas and best practice within team and across the business unit
Identification of and development of key account drivers within the business unit
Demonstrate team leadership, motivation and drive

Finance:

Responsibility for achievement of all relevant account financial targets
Accurate forecasting for assigned account
Overall management and control of account team finances
Knowledge of client contracts (MSAs) and their implementation, with responsibility for negotiating pricing on account for standard business

Business Development:

Proactive development of business with existing and closely aligned clients
Lead resourcing and preparation of compelling pitch generation (actively supported by New Business team)
Identify and where appropriate follow up opportunities for new business

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Life science degree
Relevant account management and operational experience within a pharmaceutical or medical communications agency environment with a demonstrable track record of handling brands across the pharmaceutical product lifecycle
Demonstrable track record of development and delivery of strategic / tactical communications and publications plans
Strong influencing and negotiating skills
A team leader who engenders team spirit
Excellent verbal and written communications
Problem solving and creative ability
