They are looking for a highly motivated individual with a commitment to education, and experience of working with children and/or families. The successful candidate will also require knowledge of current legislation and policies and procedures in relation to School Attendance, child protection and children missing education.

The post helps to meet the aim of the service which is to enable pupils to attend school so they can benefit from the educational opportunities available and support families to resolve any problems of non attendance. Duties include: regular contact with pastoral staff in schools for the purpose of individual referrals in relation to non-attendance at school; work closely with schools in response to school attendance problems; visit pupils homes to ascertain the reasons for non-attendance at school; provide and encourage regular school attendance in all discussions with pupils and parents; maintain records of contact with pupils and their families using the electronic Child Support System based at the LEA; to attend court in relation to the prosecution for school non-attendance; etc.
