Research Facilitator - 12 Months Maternity leave cover

Salary in the range: GBP45,400 - GBP54,880 p.a.

The Faculty of Engineering is keen to build on its track record of success with major cross-departmental research initiatives by recruiting a Research Facilitator to support academic staff in developing research proposals. The Research Facilitator will be based in the Faculty's Research Strategy office and will work closely with the Vice Dean for Research, the Head of Research Strategy Development, the Research Services team, and Departmental Research Directors to support proposal development. Research support within the College operates in a team-based collegiate environment and the appointee will form a key member of the research support team in the Faculty of Engineering.

Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining constructive relationships with major sponsors, identifing and publicising relevant funding opportunities, facilitating the development of large cross-departmental strategic bids, providing advice and support to grant applicants, managing internal calls and supporting internal peer review of proposals.

The successful candidate will have excellent analytical and numerical skills, coupled with a good understanding of research funding and the research environment, including the UK Research Councils. Knowledge of EU research funding schemes is also desirable. The ability to develop strong and productive working relationships with academic and research staff and members of the research support teams is also essential. The appointment will be for 12 months to cover maternity leave of the current post holder.
