The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 52,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.

The College has recently refreshed its International Strategy and this role will be accountable for the implementation of the new strategy, working with key stakeholders across the business. This role will lead, develop and manage an inter-professional team of GPs and managers to enable the strategic development and implementation of international work for RCGP and be responsible for commercial business development and international development (donor funding) particularly in the following five world regions: Europe, the Gulf, Africa, China and South and South East Asia. Generating commercial business development opportunities in other countries as they arise as priorities. Managing the RCGP international accreditation programme across eight countries to ensure robust, defensible and fair decisions are made and standards are upheld.

We are looking for a senior manager with experience in a health related and/or public sector/not for profit sector/membership organisation. Demonstrable and significant experience of developing, problem solving and implementing strategic and operational and project plans for a changing and complex organisation, preferably in global health and/or health education and training. Ability to deal with complex, political and culturally sensitive issues. Experience in providing advice to committees of senior professionals. Experience in commissioning and working with external partners and suppliers.
