Group Security are currently seeking a motivated professional to join its Data Privacy team to support and provide pragmatic guidance and advice to the business on compliance with the Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998, Privacy and Communications Regulation 2003 and the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Meeting the requirements of the DPA and the expectations of our members to protect their information is a key priority at Nationwide

As a minimum you'll
  • have expertise in the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and its application,
  • have good knowledge of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulation 2003,
  • have an excellent understanding of the emerging General Data Protection Regulation,
  • have excellent written and verbal communication, as well as experience in presenting, influencing and problem solving/conflict management,
  • have the ability to work to challenging deadlines,
  • be an excellent team player and able to work on your own initiative,

It would be nice if you had
  • Good foundation in Data Privacy role,
  • a relevant qualification in Data Privacy,
  • experience in line management

What you'll be doing

You will be working as part of a team of subject matter experts providing direction, advice and guidance on data privacy across the organisation and, where necessary, third parties.

Your duties will include, but not be limited to;
  • Deputising for the Data Privacy Manager where required,
  • Supporting the delivery of the General Data Protection Regulation within Nationwide,
  • Providing consultancy to formal projects and business area queries,
  • Engaging with stakeholders, including senior management, across the organisation
  • Maintaining and reviewing fair processing notices,
  • Completing Privacy Impact Assessments,
  • Managing the delivery of Data Privacy related training and education across the employee workforce
  • Reviewing guidance published by the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and identifying actions as necessary,
  • Supporting security incidents and providing advice as necessary,
  • Complaints management/investigation,
