Clinical or Counselling Psychologists
Band 8a, 2 Posts:
Post 1: 1.0 W.T.E./ permanent
Post 2: 1.0 W.T.E./ 12 month fixed term

Acute Division Psychology Service: Highgate Mental Health Centre, St. Pancras Hospital.

The Acute Psychology Service is a small team of four psychologists providing psychological input across the Acute Division; including inpatient wards, crisis houses, crisis resolution teams and acute day programmes. These full-time posts provide an exciting opportunity for two HCPC-registered clinical/counselling psychologists to work with individuals, groups and clinical teams within the Acute Division.

The Acute Psychology Service is committed to maintaining and developing a positive culture of mutual support and collaborative development of our psychology resource. The service strives in its provision to balance the development needs of staff teams alongside the treatment needs of service users. Each post holder will provide psychological input to four or five teams and have one half-day protected professional/service development time. The Trust supports a wide range of training opportunities and on going professional development for qualified psychologists.

The post-holders will negotiate psychology referral allocation and will undertake direct clinical work including assessment, brief formulation-driven intervention and group work in the context of multidisciplinary care planning. They will also be involved in consultation, reflective practice and training to multidisciplinary teams.

Enthusiasm, personal resilience and the ability to work flexibly are essential. Previous experience of providing care within acute settings or a considered appreciation of the role of the acute/crisis psychology are highly desirable attributes for applicants. Those currently working at Band 7 with appropriate experience and who are ready for career progression are welcome to apply.

* Please indicate if you are interested in both posts or one in your application form.*
