My Client is currently looking for a Tax Assistant to join their growing, specialist Tax Advisory Department in their Norwich office.
My Client is a major regional independent partnership and one of the UK's Top 50 accountancy firms. They have nine offices throughout Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex and have a team of over 300 people. They pride theirselves on providing outstanding accountancy and business advice to businesses.
To work as part of the Business and Private Department, assisting in preparing tax returns and providing organised and professional support to the portfolio holders within the Personal Tax team. The role would suit someone with previous experience of working with a tax team, and who is looking to work in a busy office environment.
Assist in the preparation of tax returns and computations by entering source information provided by clients, including preparing rental income accounts and other associated tasks.
Drafting Capital Gains Tax computations for senior review.
Preparing other HMRC forms for senior review, including tax elections, and amending PAYE tax codes.
Liaise with HMRC and other professionals regarding client affairs.
Ensure that professional ethical procedures are adhered to.
Manage and update the in-house database for client details.
Maintain an up to date understanding of tax clients.
Is aware of the wide range of Larking Gowen services and spots opportunities to potentially sell those services to clients.
Is actively involved in office marketing events when appropriate and is an 'ambassador' of the firm. Other Responsibilities:
Adhere to the firms risk management policies and procedures.
Attend training courses as identified in order to develop both technical and personal skills and keeps records for compliance purposes.
Communicate workload with manager or partner.
Undertake other duties to meet the demands of the business.
Education and qualifications
Maths and English Language at GCSE (at grade C's or above).
A level education or equivalent experience. Experience Essential:
Experience of working with an external client base.
Experience of assisting in the preparation of tax returns.
Experience of using Microsoft packages, internet, email and other computerised packages.
Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing deadlines and priorities.
Intermediate excel spread sheet skills.
Good customer service skills.
Previous accounts experience.
Experience of accounting software packages and similar programmes
Experience of coaching or mentoring colleagues
Methodical and accurate.
Strong team working, prioritisation and organisational skills.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Comfortable liaising with clients on a day to day basis.
