About Care Home
At Victoria House we have a varied selection of residents. We have a good support group of volunteers who provide various activities and outgoings, and we also have a very strong relatives group who recently formed a constitution. A mobile farm visits the house twice a year and we have a policy of allowing pets.
Victoria House is two large Victorian houses joined together which provides residential care for elderly frail and mild Dementia. Over the years we have had various extensions added to enhance the property, and now has 29 rooms of varying sizes, some having en suite facilities. Every room has a TV aerial and telephone access.
We have various gardens for our residents to enjoy and this gives the opportunity to get together and enjoy a cool drink and snacks or take a book into a quiet area to read.
The house has a lift and two stair lifts for easy access throughout the property. We provide easy access to listening books for those who have sight impairment and have a small library in the house. There is hairdressing / treatment room, and a chiropodist who visits the house regularly, as does a lady who carries out reflexology and massage.
Who we are
We have been established since 1956 when the dream of one man, Richard Carr-Gomm, became a reality. He recognised that a lot of older people were both neglected and isolated and he dedicated the rest of his life to building our charity that has been helping thousands of people across Britain and the world.
During our 60 years weve developed Richards dream and our 500+ houses and homes are run by specialist staff that are determined to provide all our residents exceptional standards of help and support. Weve developed just the right formula that allows us to flexibly provide individual levels of assistance when and where theyre needed.
We are proud of the quality of what we do, and not only are we monitored and regulated by the HCA and CQC, but we have implemented our own bespoke quality standard.
You can rest assured that, with Abbeyfield, youre in good hands.
