Business Support Assistant (Local Authority)

South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils operate a shared waste service which is recognised as one of the country's highest performing waste services.

Position: Waste Business Support Assistant
Location: Milton Park, Didcot
Job Type: Part Time, Permanent Contract
Hours: 22.2 Hours per week Monday, Thursday and Friday
Salary: £20,013, Grade 3 per annum

About the role:

We are looking for someone to join the team and provide business support to the service area as directed by the line manager.

Responsibilities:

- Responding to routine customer enquiries and complaints made to the waste team by telephone, e-mail, letter and in person, redirect more complex enquiries to relevant person or organisation as appropriate
- Provide support to other members of the waste team as directed
- Using the waste databases and spreadsheets process requests from residents and waste officers for: bulky waste collection; replacement / new / additional bins; assisted collections; clinical waste collections
- Log information onto database, produce report sheet for technical officers and update both computerised and manual record systems
- Process garden waste exemptions against the guidance provided and keep accurate records of the outcome and correspondence received for each request
- In accordance with set procedures collate, record and process data received from external organisations relating to the waste service such as weighbridge weights received from Oxfordshire County Council and the waste contractor
- Maintain databases, and records of the service including electronic reports from the waste contractor
- Assist with the raising or payment of invoices through accounts payable and accounts receivable

About you:

- 5 GCSE's grades A-C or equivalent to include English and Maths
- Significant experience in providing administration support in an office environment
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and E-mail
- Experience of maintaining accurate databases and systems

If you have the following experience or qualifications - it's a bonus:

- Knowledge of the waste industry
- Experience with dealing with contractors and residents

You may have experience of the following: Administrator, Administration, Local Authority, Council Administrator, Admin Executive, Waste, Public Sector, Business Support Assistant, Office Administrator etc.
