Hours: From 16- 32 Hours, between 2pm Friday and 11pm Sunday

As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll have a challenging but fulfilling job. Working with vulnerable young people in our children’s homes, you’ll provide them with personalised care and create a calm, safe living environment. That involves planning social and leisure activities, giving counselling and escorting children on activities, but most importantly creating a home!

Experience isn’t essential, but you must have the ability to build a rapport with young people. In many cases, our residents’ behaviour can be difficult or challenging. That means you’ve got to be very patient, calm and resilient. You should also be ready to study for a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) (if you don’t have this or an equivalent already). In the meantime, we’ll give you outstanding training to help you do your best. In return you’ll need to be happy to work flexible hours, including some sleep-in duties and to have a full UK driving licence.

For children and young people with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. With our high staff-to-child ratio and in-house clinical teams, our children’s homes have a reputation for excellence. Through our inspirational homes, schools and ethos, we’ve achieved the highest possible outcomes. In short, we’re enhancing life opportunities.

We have a variety of shift patterns available, these are flexible but will be worked between 2pm Friday and 11pm Sunday:

24 Hours per week – 1 full day shift (16 hours) plus one 8 hour shift

32 Hours per week – 1 full day shift (16 hours) plus two 8 hour shifts

You will be required to be available 4-6 hours (mid week) a month to meet the tutors for your diploma qualification, if you don’t already have it. These hours will be in addition to your contracted hours and will be paid.

It includes a competitive salary, contributory pension, comprehensive induction and ongoing training, 35 days’ holiday Pro-rata (including bank holidays) and £1000 per annum Attendance Incentive Scheme (pro-rata).
