Registered Care Home Manager - The Elders

Salary - £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Full-time hours - 35 hours per week Monday to Friday Weekends as required

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Registered Care Home Manager for our Residential Care Home based in Ewell, Surrey.

The Elders in Ewell, Epsom is one of Abbeyfields Residential and Dementia Care Homes providing care and support to 23 residents. The Elders joined Abbeyfield as the result of an acquisition at the end of October 2016.

Like all Abbeyfield homes we have a variety of activities provided for residents to enjoy and the Care Home Manager is also responsible for developing a volunteer database, organising fund raising events and engaging with the local community to promote Abbeyfield and the home.

As the Registered Care Home Manager the main responsibilities will be to manage the home on a day to day basis, ensure that it is compliant to meet the required regulations, provide leadership to all staff and ensure the best use of resources available to meet the needs of the residents. Working with your staff and others within Abbeyfield, you will also encourage involvement of relatives, friends and the local community to support the home. As the Care Home Manager, you must demonstrate a strong commitment to making time for older people and have a proven track record of providing high quality care in a person-centered way, in a Residential/Dementia care setting. In addition, being able to demonstrate how you will bring to life Abbeyfields values of caring, openness, honesty and respect.

To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate proven experience of working in a Dementia care home setting as a Manager. You will have a relevant qualification (NVQ/QCF L5 or equivalent).

You must have relevant experience of managing and supervising staff; planning rotas; understanding budgets and working with local agencies to ensure the home maintains full occupancy. It is a requirement of the role that you obtain CQC Registration as Care Home Manager.

About our Care Home

The home is situated in Ewell, Epsom. The home was originally a maternity hospital and has kept some of the original charming features. The home is set in its own grounds and had an extension added to the home of 10 rooms in 1984. At The Elders we are in the process of improving the technology and design of the building to offer a safe, stimulating and comfortable dementia friendly environment.

The home has 23 bedrooms, 11 of which have en suite facilities. We also have five communal bathrooms/shower rooms, a large communal lounge and dining room. This is surrounded by beautiful gardens which can be enjoyed by residents, family and friends.

The gardens are accessible for all residents and are well maintained to encourage outside living, with a lovely outdoor patio area for residents to sit in. We understand the importance of getting a varied and healthy diet, so we will ensure all residents receive nutritious meals.

We are a not for profit company that has been established since 1956 when the dream of one man, Richard Carr-Gomm, became a reality. He recognised that a lot of older people were both neglected and isolated and he dedicated the rest of his life to building our charity that has been helping thousands of people across Britain and the world.
