Do you have experience working with vulnerable people? Are you ready for the next step of your career?

Your new role starts here...

We have a vacancy for a part-time Senior Support Worker (30 hours per week) working in our supported living service in Monkmoor, Shrewsbury.

About the role

You will play a key role assisting the two gentleman we support (aged in their 50's), to live as independently as possible. You will help them access the community and join in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, which include Music (lots of it!), shopping, and doing chores around the house. Both gentlemen attend day centres or farm placements at different days in the week.

There is also personal care involved in this position and they may show some challenging behaviours for which you will be given full training.

The two men that share the house are fun, interesting, charming and great to support. They need lots of reassurance and help to understand changes and things that happen in their lives.

As a Senior, you will develop rotas and deputise for the Frontline Manager. You will work closely with the staff team, encouraging them and identifying training needs, whether formal or by way of day-to-day coaching and reflection. This could be a stepping stone to further opportunities within MacIntyre.

The rota for this service covers shifts across days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins. There will also be some admin duties as part of your shift.

What we need from you

We are looking for people with empathy, resilience and a passion to support these two gents to live as independently as they can, to live a life that makes sense to them and to support them to achieve their potential - which is massive!

You will need some experience working with vulnerable people, ideally those with learning disabilities. Perhaps you have been a Support Worker or Care Worker and are now looking to step up to a more senior role with more responsibilities and greater challenges.

You will need to be flexible and organised, with a positive approach.
