Are you looking for the next stage in your career?

Could you lead a team whilst supporting people with learning disabilities?

MacIntyre is a award winning national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. Our core belief is that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.

We have a vacancy for full-time Senior Support Worker in our service in Bursledon, Hampshire (5 miles west of Southampton). This position is for 38 hours per week.

About the role

You will join the friendly team at our small, homely residential care service in the village of Bursledon, where we support five adults (aged from 36 - 63) with a range of learning disabilities. You will play a key part in assisting people to live as independently as possible.

You will help them be active members of their local community, joining in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, such as going to the cinema, music, hydro, and going out for meals or to the theatre. The most important thing for the people we support here is that their staff are happy and do not rush them.

Because of the complexity of his learning disabilities, they sometimes require personal care and can sometimes display behaviours of concern. You will be given training and support from your Frontline Manager to help deal with this.

The work can be demanding and doesn't suit everyone, but if it's right for you, you'll find it incredibly rewarding and valuable. We will provide you with full training and with day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service.

You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins.

As a Senior, you will develop rotas and deputise for the Frontline Manager. You will work closely with the staff team, encouraging them and identifying training needs, whether formal or by way of day-to-day coaching and reflection. This could be a stepping stone to further opportunities within MacIntyre who are well represented within the Hampshire area.

What we need from you

You will need some experience working with vulnerable people, ideally those with learning disabilities. Perhaps you have been a Support Worker or Care Worker and are now looking to step up to a more senior role with more responsibilities and greater challenges.

You will need to be flexible and organised, with a positive approach.

Pay and Rewards

MacIntyre offers a full induction and ongoing training, including the opportunity to gain nationally accredited vocational qualifications. We also offer a range of benefits which include:

Free training
Workplace pension scheme
Employee Assistance scheme to support your health and wellbeing

Salaries are dependent on successful completion of a 6 month probation period. Part time positions are paid pro rata.
