We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring Support Worker like you (known internally by us as Support Worker – Level 2) to join our service.
Oakfields is a 24 hour, double cover, 19 bed, part catered residential service for ex-offenders. We are looking to recruit a Waking Night Support Worker who would like to develop their knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding ex-offenders, working closely with the support Coordinators to assist customers to gain the skills and confidence to sustain future accommodation and gain access to employment and training opportunities.
An experienced Support Worker or Assistant Project Worker, you’ll help change lives for the better by assisting in delivering identified tasks based upon customers’ individual needs and aspirations, as identified within their personal support plans. You’ll liaise with external agencies and work closely with our Senior Support Workers too in assessing and engaging support for our clients. Together you will really make a difference, empowering our clients to develop the independent living skills they need to successfully move on with a positive future.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a supportive team. Collectively you will support customers to achieve their goals and aspirations but you should be confident working alone and using your own initiative. You will receive full training and induction along with on-going support to develop in your role and career.
A bit about you
We want someone like you, with the passion and motivation for helping vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. To flourish in the role, you’ll have a practical understanding of safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality and support plans. You’ll be great at managing your own time, working on your own initiative, have strong communication skills and be able to positively influence people from all different backgrounds. It’s important to us that you have the compassion and empathy to work with vulnerable people in a housing related social care setting and we do need you to also have good IT skills too.
We’ll be impressed if you have knowledge of this sector, our customer group and experience of working with hard to reach clients, but don’t worry as we’ll also develop your skills in this too.
It’s really important to us that you have time to what you are really care about; changing clients lives for the better. So to free up your time, you’ll be given the latest IT kit, which could include a Surface Pro tablet and smart phone, supported by our new online integrated IT system which means that you don’t have to be in the office as you can complete support plans on the go. You’ll also be paid between clients visit and for your mileage too.
The role is working 33 hours per week, working on a 4 days on 4 days off rota (21.30 – 07.30).
If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
