Our client is looking for an experienced and forward-thinking part-time Accounts Assistant to join their finance department. The role will be varied and challenging, and you will be required to have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to work effectively within their busy Accounts team. You will need to be able to use your initiative to work without close supervision and reach tight deadlines, both alone and part of the wider team. You will be presentable, and confident with good team working skills to work well with all members of the Group.

As an integral part of the Accounts team, you will be liaising and supporting our internal and external stakeholders with key information whilst adhering to established processes, internal controls and a keen eye for detail. The nature of the business requires a flexible and proactive attitude to meet the needs of a fast-paced environment. This role is part time, working 24 hours a week, flexible on how many days.

Key Responsibilities
• Management and smooth running of sales ledgers across 3 companies
• Set-up and administration of sales accounts for address change and change of details
• Daily posting of cash and daily notifications of paid items
• Chasing of debtors falling due / overdue with an emphasis on building solid relations
• Dealing with day-to-day sales queries
• Issuing of statements periodically to customers alongside any demands for payments
• Issuing of ad hoc sales invoices including intercompany
• Updating internal reporting for cash flow purposes
• Day book and sales ledger reconciliations
• Ensuring all cheques are banked timely
• Ownership and processing of employee expenses in line with company guidelines
• Weekly timesheet entry for the site based employed personnel; with the view to take on all associated invoices for subcontractors for external labourers and site managers
• Processing of urgent payments by the business
• Assist with the matching and posting of purchase and subcontractor invoices adhering to company processes and liaising with the wider project delivery team
• Assist with onboarding new accounts to the system and the update of the system with changes
• Assisting with ensuring supplier statements are performed monthly and unreconciled items are resolved
• Provide sickness and holiday cover within the accounts team
• Assisting with the annual audit
• Carry out other ad-hoc tasks by reasonable request of the Group Financial Controller

Person Specification
• An enquiring mind and an attention to detail whilst multitasking within the department
• Experience working in a similar role within finance is essential, working to established controls and a good manner when communicating with customers and suppliers
• Ideally have experience using a construction-based software with some knowledge of the of construction industry scheme
• Interest in finance or actively studying towards an accounting qualification such as AAT or equivalent
