Financial Controller – full or part time

We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented and efficient fully CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or equivalent Financial Controller to help manage all aspects of finance and contracts in a busy office. The role can be full or part time – hours to be agreed. This is a hands-on position, supported by an accountant and accounts payable assistant, and you must be able to work in a fast-moving small company environment, which requires flexibility and the ability to work at all levels within the organisation.

This is a varied and interesting role with opportunities for growth within the company. Reporting to the COO, the successful candidate will be a proactive, confident and enthusiastic performer who is able to multi-task and perform to deadlines.

The Financial Controller needs to have worked with accounts in multiple jurisdictions (not just UK accounts experience) and should live within 45 mins travel distance of the office at peak times..


·Preparation of consolidated monthly management accounts for UK and US companies

·Statutory year-end accounts and audit (with external auditors)

·Reconcile and agree inter-company balances

·Full Balance Sheet reconciliations

·Review of payroll and benefits, currently in 4 countries

·Interacting with HMRC for payroll, VAT, share valuations, etc.

·Working closely with HR on pay and employee benefits

·Raising of invoices and subsequent tracking/credit control

·Help with preparation and tracking of customer and supplier contracts

·Project administration, including time and cost tracking and reporting

·Assistance with financial budgeting and forecasting

·Manage cashflow and treasury

·Continuously improve systems and internal controls

·Overall management responsibility for finance team

·Other administrative tasks, as required


The ideal candidate will be a quick learner and will have the following attributes:

·A solid understanding of bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, audit, etc. and a good grounding in accounting practice is essential

·Familiarity with NetSuite and/or other accounting packages

·A good understanding of project accounting and reporting

·Good oral and written communication skills

·Attention to detail with a proactive problem-solving attitude

·Excellent Excel skills, ability to build and manage complex financial spreadsheets

·Relevant tax experience such as R&D tax credits useful but not essential

·Experience of working in multiple jurisdictions

·Knowledge of commercial contracts, company secretarial issues and/or compliance would be advantageous

·People management experience

·Fully CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or equivalent
