Support Worker (Ref: LO15137)

Position: Support Worker
Location: Ruddington, Nottingham
Job Type: Part Time, Permanent and Casual positions available
Hours: Perm Post: 22 hours per week (2 x 11 hour waking night shifts initially with potential to increase), Casual Post: Working hours will be during the week, weekends and waking night shifts on an as and when required basis agreed in advance
Salary: £12 - £14 per hour; Week days / nights £12 per hour; Weekend days / nights £14 per hour

About the role:

- Help with the care of a 10 year old boy with an acquired brain injury within his home.
- Provide support with care, overnight on waking night shifts and before and after school, in the early evenings, weekends and during school holidays.
- Provide assistance to their client’s parents and any other support staff with the care of their son and to take sole charge when required.
- Help with all activities of daily living and also to enable him to access learning, social and leisure activities.
- Provide assistance with all aspects of day to day care needs as required. This may include meal preparation.
- Promotion of their client’s wellbeing and support in implementing therapy programmes as advised by his therapists.

About you:

- The key skills required for this post are to be flexible, responsible, enthusiastic and sensitive to the needs of the family.
- The role of the Support Worker will involve working on a one to one basis with their client, but also working closely with their client’s family, his Case Manager (clinical professional) and involved therapists.
- Experience of working with children with special needs is essential.
- The post holder will also be required to hold a full driving licence and ideally have access to a car which can be used during the course of their duties.

Flexibility with hours will be required for both roles to ensure their client's care needs are met and therefore working hours are subject to change.

Due to the nature of the role an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required.
