Are you positive and creative? Could you support people with learning disabilities, helping them live life on their own terms?

We have vacancies for full-time (38 hpw) Support Workers at one of our Supported Living services in the Bradville area of Milton Keynes.

Part-time opportunities may also be available.

Applications for this role must be FEMALE ONLY, due to a occupational requirement with the person we support.

About the role

At this service we support one lady with a diagnosis of learning disability, autism and associated behaviours of concern. We work to enable her to make positive choices, taking increasing control and responsibility for her life.

This is an interesting and rewarding role which can offer many challenges along the road to success. You will provide daily support to the woman we support, including personal care, community activities and domestic tasks. You may also be working with her family, with local authority teams and health professionals.

The work can be demanding and doesn't suit everyone, but if it's right for you, you'll find it incredibly rewarding and valuable. We will provide you with full training and with day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service.

You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

What we need from you

It would be helpful if you have some experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviours. However experience is not essential, as we provide a full induction and free training programme, including the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications. People join us from many different backgrounds, it's more important to us that you have a positive approach, are patient and communicative, and are willing to learn.

The woman we support is looking for people who can understand her condition, be calm, confident and firm but fair (to help her stick to her boundaries). She wants someone who will stand up for her and advocate on her behalf when necessary.

It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be required to drive the service vehicle which is a Vauxhall Zafira. For reasons relating to vehicle insurance, you must be 25 years of age or older.

Who are we? MacIntyre is a leading national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. Our core belief is that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.

Pay and Rewards

MacIntyre offers a full induction and ongoing training, including the opportunity to gain nationally accredited vocational qualifications. We also offer a range of benefits which include:

Generous annual leave allowance of 33 days including statutory public holidays, rising with service to a maximum of 38 days after five years.
Free training
Workplace pension scheme
Employee Assistance scheme to support your health and wellbeing
MacIntyre Staff Savings Scheme

Salaries are dependent on successful completion of a probation period. Part time positions are pro rata.

Next Steps...

Interviews will take place shortly after applications have been received and shortlisted. APPLY TODAY!

The closing date for this position is: Wednesday 14 March 2018.

Safer Recruitment

MacIntyre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. This post will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, together with all other relevant recruitment and right to work checks. Where relevant, candidates from outside the EU will need to produce a biometric residency permit. Additionally, any successful candidate who has spent six months or more outside the UK (as an adult) within the last five years will need to obtain an overseas police check.

This post is exempt from the Equality Act 2010 (Schedule 9, Part 1) which provides for the application of a genuine occupational requirement.
