We have a vacancy supporting adults for a full-time Senior Support Worker in our service in Monkmoor, Shrewsbury. This position is for 38 hours per week.

About the role

This MacIntyre service is two gentlemen (late 40s/early 50s) sharing a house; One is very independent and the other one needs 24 hour support when not at his farm work placement which runs Monday to Friday. The Staff they are looking for need to be active with a can do attitude, willing to support the them to develop new skills and independence. They must be kind, caring, patient and willing to join in their favourite pastimes and hobbies.

One gentleman loves going out to clubs, canoeing, visiting family and friends, watching TV, listening to music and playing bingo. The other gentleman loves doing DIY, cooking, household chores, going out and about on his bike, on the bus and volunteering for local countryside groups. He also likes gardening, maintenance work and just being involved in all that is going on. As well as listening to music on his laptop and watching TV especially soap operas.

Some times they require help with intimate care such as showering and prompting.

As a Senior, you will develop rotas and deputise for the Frontline Manager. You will work closely with the staff team, encouraging them and identifying training needs, whether formal or by way of day-to-day coaching and reflection. This could be a stepping stone to further opportunities within MacIntyre.

You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins (2 per week).

What we need from you

You will need some experience working with vulnerable people, ideally those with learning disabilities. Perhaps you have been a Support Worker or Care Worker and are now looking to step up to a more senior role with more responsibilities and greater challenges.

You will need to be flexible and organised, with a positive approach.

Salaries are dependent on successful completion of a 6 month probation period. Part time positions are pro rata.
