Are you positive and creative? Could you help to lead a team to support people with learning disabilities, helping them live life on their own terms?

We have a vacancy for full-time Senior Support Worker in our new service in Culcheth, Warrington.

About the role

The gentleman we support in this new service is aged 41 years old and has a diagnosis of autism as well as being registered blind. You will play a key part in assisting him to live as independently as possible. You will join in with his favourite pastimes and hobbies, helping him be an active member of the local community. Activities might include drives in his car, cinema, walks, visiting the pub, listening to music, bowling, and cafe visits

Because of the complexity of his learning disabilities, he requires personal care and can sometimes display behaviours of concern towards objects. You will be given training and support from your Frontline Manager to help deal with this.

The work can be demanding and doesn't suit everyone, but if it's right for you, you'll find it incredibly rewarding and valuable. We will provide you with full training and with day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service.

You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins (roughly 2 - 3 per week). The shift rotas are 7am-2.30pm, 2.30pm-10pm and Sleep in 10pm-7am.

As a Senior, you will develop rotas and deputise for the Frontline Manager. You will work closely with the staff team, encouraging them and identifying training needs, whether formal or by way of day-to-day coaching and reflection. This could be a stepping stone to further opportunities within MacIntyre who are well represented within the Warrington area.

What we need from you

You will need some experience working with vulnerable people, ideally those with learning disabilities. Perhaps you have been a Support Worker or Care Worker and are now looking to step up to a more senior role with more responsibilities and greater challenges.

You will need to be flexible and organised, with a positive approach.

It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be required to drive the service mobility vehicle. You must also be over 25 years of age and have held your driving licence for a minimum of 12 months to comply with the insurance requirements.
