Could you support people with learning disabilities, helping them live life on their own terms? Could you make a small contribution of time, to make a big difference?

We have vacancies supporting adults for Support Workers in our Supported Living services in Westoning (Flitwick), Bedfordshire. You could work either full time (38hpw) or part time. On your application let us know what would suit you best.

About the role

You will play a key part in providing support, over two semi detached properties and 4 gentlemen (aged from 47 - 61), to live as independently as possible. You will join in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, helping them be active members of their local community. Activities might include going to the golfing range, day trips to the seaside, walking, listening to music, shopping, going out for meals or to the pub, taking people to and from their learning centre or day opportunities.

Because of the complexity of their learning disabilities, some people require help with intimate care or medication. There can sometimes also be challenging behaviour.

The work can be demanding and doesn't suit everyone, but if it's right for you, you'll find it incredibly rewarding and valuable, and you'll be adding value to the people you are supporting! We will provide you with full training and with day-to-day help and advice from your Frontline Manager.

You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins (roughly 1 or 2 a week).

What we need from you

Experience is not necessary, as we provide a full induction and free training programme. People join us from many different backgrounds, it's more important to us that you have a positive approach and are willing to learn.

It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be required to drive service vehicles. You must also have a minimum of one year's driving experience for insurance purposes.
