Required to work with a 16 year old young man with a brain injury in his own home, in the Plymouth area.
Our client is a young person with a physical and learning disability following a cerebral haemorrhage when he was 18 months old. He lives with his family in an adapted property. He wishes to directly employ support workers to join his existing team.
His family is closely involved. He attends a school five days per week term time and he enjoys being at home during the school holidays and after school. He enjoys socialising, using his sensory room, accessing his computer and walks around the local area. The client has a friendly and cooperative personality, but can become agitated on occasions when he is trying to communication with others. He uses facial expression, vocalisation and augmentative and alternative communication strategies.
He is engaging and sociable and loves to have fun. Role will involve personal & domestic care, supporting therapy programmes, social & leisure outings, and enabling him to be an independent individual.
Previous experience and full driving licence are essential.
NVQ level 2 or equivalent in care is desirable.
Full and part time hours available on a 2:1 basis covering a 24/7 rota.
£11 - £13 per hour.
Sleep shifts (8 hours) paid at National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage if aged 25 or over.
This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS.
