BPL are looking for a part-time Senior Infrastructure Engineer to work in our friendly IT Department in Elstree. Working Wednesday to Friday, you'll be job sharing with an member of the team.

·         Subject Matter Expert for all BPLT Infrastructure

·         Provide 3rd line support to all BPLT Infrastructure.

·         Provide on call support services for one week in six

·         Maintain up to date knowledge of all relevant infrastructure technologies and make recommendations to shape the roadmap of BPLT infrastructure

·         Plan and execute infrastructure projects ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met

·         Ensure that all BPLT Infrastructure is patched to an appropriate level

·         Develop and maintain automation for BAU services

·         Monitor all infrastructure platforms, incidents and responses to recommend improvements to processes, equipment and automation.

 

Support Services

  • Provide 3rd Line Desktop, Server and Network Support to the organisation
  • Log all actions in the Service Desk software package
  • Respond to and resolve support tickets within SLA’s
  • Develop and maintain automation of BAU services
  • Be a subject matter expert for all infrastructure systems
  • Monitor, maintain and continuously improve:
    • VMWare and VSAN systems
    • Palo Alto Firewall & VPN
    • Cisco Switch & Route Platforms
    • Network Infrastructure cabling and assets
    • Data Centre and Cloud Assets
    • Server Platform, including file and print services
    • Communications systems, including 365, telephony, Skype & Lifesize
    • EUC Platform, including builds and remediation
    • Backup and DR Systems; Peaceguard, Veeam, Zerto

 

Project Work

  • Architect infrastructure to meet evolving business requirements
  • Execute and lead infrastructure replacement and improvement projects
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures, including their documentation
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.  Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale

 

Communication

  • Liaise with employees at all levels, including those in other continents
  • Liaise with technical resources (IT and other 3rd party suppliers)
  • Work directly with 3rd party suppliers
  • Communicate user feedback to IT and other relevant business departments
  • Liaise with QA on IT quality and validation issues
  • Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement (CI) and cross functional working
